National Innovation Diploma (NID) Welding and Fabrication Technology:

The programme is intended to produce innovative technicians in Welding and Fabrication for innovation enterprises,

self employment, private and public sectors for Nigeria economy.

Objectives

A product of National Innovation Diploma (NID) in Welding and Fabrication engineering should be able to:

1. Carry out welding and fabrication operations.

2. Develop the ability to communicate their knowledge of techniques, processes and materials by developing their graphical skills including free hand sketching and measured drawing.

3. Develop practical bench based skills to manipulate a range of commom metals directed to the realization of ideas and the production of artefacts.

4. Provide experience in the use of some common machine tools.

5. Establish a capacity to read and interpret formal working drawings and diagrammatic illustrations.

6. Acquire a body of knowledge to inform practical work and give a poad base of understanding of welding and metal working.

7. Nurture a safe approach to practical work with materials using hand and machine tools.

8. Promote a capacity to solve specified technical designed problems.

9. Prepare appropriate engineering report.

10. Apply management principles in organizing supervisory groups and in the arrangement of sequence of activities.

11. Acquire and apply basic entrepreneur skills.

12. Apply adequate information technology (IT) skills.


National Vocational Certificate (NVC) Welding and Fabrication:

This programme is designed to produce skilled craftsmen with good knowledge of the application of the equipment, materials,

techniques and safety practices in fabrication and welding of metal projects.
Objectives: On completion of the programme the student should be able to:
1. Carry out gas welding and cutting jobs on all types of metals.

2. Produce simple finished structural steel work projects with safety, using relevant equipment and techniques.

3. Apply protective wetting against corrosion of finished metal projects

4. Market finished metal projects.
